Good Values in Children

Some things to keep in mind when developing values in children: Keep it positive:- Children respond best to positive reinforcement. Recognise and reward good behaviour instead of focusing on negative actions. Be a role model:- Children learn best by example. If you want them to be honest, be honest yourself. If you want them to be kind, show them kindness. Be consistent:- Children need consistency in order to feel safe and secure. If your rules and expectations are always changing, they will have a hard time following them. Use teachable moments:- Take advantage of everyday situations to reinforce desired values. For example, if you see your child being honest, praise him or her for it. Be patient:- It takes time for children to develop values.
